"MHIC to move into Wallowa City Hall Building"

"MHIC to move into Wallowa City Hall Building" As Maxville Heritage Interpretive Center (MHIC) reaches its first year mark as a cultural center located in Enterprise two things have been apparent, its archive collection has outgrown its cozy storefront space, and the City of Wallowa ‘s unique connection to nationally registered historical buildings and Maxville’s descendents makes the decision to move to Wallowa and establish the gateway there a natural move. Conversations with Senator Wyden’s representatives have been ongoing since he introduced the land use bill to return the Wallowa Compound for use as a cultural Heritage site in 2009. The City of Wallowa has been a great source of support as we begin to take these next important steps to locate in their old City Hall office. We will be next door to the Nez Perce Interpretive Center at: E 2nd Street in Wallowa. Phone: 541-886- 3670.

Is Enterprise connected to this cultural history? Absolutely. Our relationship to Enterprise and it generous community is special and is not at an end. We are in conversations with the Business Facilitation organization and Enterprise stakeholders on a historical treatment with an Enterprise location.

Bill Burkett from Enterprise is creating a unique Maxville kiosk to be located at the Chamber of Commerce’s new location where you can check in on developments, event information and materials.
