Doc Gregory's Snowy Delay
Doc (John) Gregory was compensated for loggers by Bowman-Hicks Lumber Company in Maxville and the Mill at $1 a day for each worker, regardless of the injury or sickness. He was often paid by local homesteaders with livestock or textiles, such as handmade quilts. Was said to have delivered over 3000 babies during his practice of medicine.
