It all started when…

Doug Trice’s roots in Oregon ran deep. He was the son of Lucky Trice, one of a small number of Black loggers who worked the mills in Maxville Oregon, an historical logging community where African Americans were recruited to work and live alongside white families in Wallowa County in the 1920’s and 30’s. To honor Doug’s memory as a coach and teacher, we have established a scholarship fund for education and young athletes. For more information or to make a donation, please contact us at 541-426-3545 or info@maxvilleheritage.org.
